Plenty of Community Festive Cheer in Abercynon Ward

Hundreds of residents gathered in Abercynon town centre last week to share in the IMG_2583festive sprit as the town’s Christmas tree was lit. A full evening of entertainment was provided by The Phoenix Singers, Cor Meibion Abercynon and Abercynon Community School Choir.

Former Abercynon Ward Councillor Alby Davies M.B.E was invited to switch on the Christmas tree lights in honour of his forty six years of service to the community. Once the tree was lit, the three choirs combined with residents to sing Christmas carols around the Christmas tree.

The festive event was organised by Abercynon Community Action Group who were assisted by members of the community in raising funds for the Christmas tree, lights and snow machine. The event would not have been possible without donations from Abercynon Ward individuals, businesses and Cynon Taf Housing Association.IMG_2580

In order to make the event a success, assistance was provided by local police officers, Abercynon Community School staff and P.T.A, volunteers, and GTFM. Our fantastic Christmas tree was provided by Centregreat who provided valuable assistance to the Action Group.

We would like to thank Abercynon Community Action Group, all those who made donations and gave their time to help organise and host the event and most importantly, the hundreds of residents who came along to share in the festive spirit. As local Councillors, seeing the whole community coming together to share in the festive spirit was very heartening.

We are very proud of our community of Abercynon Ward!

We would like to wish Abercynon Ward residents and businesses a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
